What is the HOPE program in school?

For being eligible for the HOPE Program Scholarship, you can either apply through FAFSA or directly through GSFAPPS. HOPE stands for Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally) and was established by the then governor of Georgia, Zell Miller for the welfare of outstanding students in various academic fields. There are six separate aid programs including the Zen Miller program intended for all meritorious students enrolled in Georgian Universities and colleges.

Steps for HOPE Program Scholarship Application

There are slight differences if one applies for scholarships during the Fall First Year, Summer First-Year students, Transfer, and Transient Students.

  1. Applications for HOPE scholarships can go through the Georgia Tech Application for Scholarship and Financial Aid.
  2. The FAFSA program accepts free applications for getting scholarships.
  3. The CSS profile of a college board is the platform for non-federal students and welcomes scholarship applications online.
  4. The Georgia Student Financial Aid (GSFAPPS) is another such avenue for getting to the HOPE scholarships.

For Summer students in first-year grades and Transfer students, you have three options out of the above four. Transient Students, one can apply for the HOPE or Zen Miller scholarship. You can apply directly through the Finance Commission of Georgia Students (GSFAPPS).

HOPE scholarship requirements

The HOPE scholarship requirements include the following;

  1. One must enroll oneself in a program with the Georgian Universities and Colleges.
  2. The student must at least have scored a 3.00 GPA.
  3. For filling up the application form, a student must submit an identity card.

GPA Requirements

A GPA of 3.00 needs there in semesters to maintain the HOPE scholarship across all semesters. The GPA check is done after 30, 60, and 90 hours of attempt and additionally for every Spring semester. Those who disqualify in two checkpoints cannot be eligible again for the scholarship amount.
